Event Wrap-Up

IL BREAKS was an incredible success. Over 54 dancers from St. Louis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Peoria, Indiana, and Iowa came and competed in the event.

The competition sold out within 2 hours when the venue reached its 500 person capacity. After that about another 50-100 people snuck into the event! The most amazing part about it was that the spectators were not bboys and bgirls, nor were they hardcore hip hop heads. It was mainly students from U of I and people from the surrounding community. For many it was their first encounter with the b-boy dance style and culture.

The competition itself went incredibly smooth. For the most part all of the spectators stayed... from 7pm - midnight! There were give-a-ways from Mixwell, Wild Style Technicians, and Tribal gear. The livest battle of the evening was Motion Disorderz versus Motion Disorderz. Alex and Mijo battled Antonio and Dizi. The crowd was ridiculously hyped!

The final battle was Alex and Mijo from Motion Disorderz versus Shorty and Waka from Brickheadz. It was a dope battle and I hope to put it up on the site within the next few weeks so you can download it.

Brickheadz won the battle and took home the $500 cash prize. Motion Disorderz was awarded $150 @ karmaloop.com.

Site Launch

Welcome to the IL Breaks 2004 site. IL Breaks 2004 is a two-on-two B-Boy battle at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign that will occur on March 5th 2004. This is a regional battle featuring crews from throughout the Midwest. First place takes home $500 cash. There will also be giveaways from Mixwell, Wild Style Technicians, and Tribal gear.
